This Module is Designed to Provide an In-Depth Education on Milk Quality, Udder Health, and Milking Systems, Focusing on Both Conventional and Robotic Milking Solutions. It Covers Essential Aspects Such as Milking Procedures, Milking Parlor Design, and Milking Parlor Maintenance.
The primary goal is to ensure that milking procedures maximize production, prevent mastitis, and minimize Somatic Cell Count (SCC), Standard Plate Count (SPC), E. coli, and Laboratory Pasteurization Count (LPC).
The Fellow will explore and monitor the most economically efficient designs and practices in milking parlors, aiming to deliver cost-effective excellence in mastitis treatment protocols, sanitation, and maintenance. Emphasis is placed on the use of automation and robotics to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Utilizing several collaborating dairies, the Fellow will gain practical experience and insights into optimizing milking systems. By focusing on proper milking procedures and advanced technologies, the module aims to achieve high standards in milk quality and udder health while maintaining economic efficiency.
Through this module, Fellows will develop expertise in the design and maintenance of milking systems, mastering the balance between high production and animal health. They will learn to implement effective mastitis prevention and treatment protocols, ensuring the highest standards of milk quality and udder health.
