Rick is a Professor and Extension Specialist in Animal Environment at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His primary appointment is with Biological Systems Engineering and he has a joint appointment with the Department of Animal Science. Rick’s interests focus on improving environmental conditions in and around livestock and poultry facilities, mitigating thermal stress in livestock and poultry, and facility design for optimal management of animals, labor, manure, and other resources. He teaches undergraduate courses in the Agricultural Systems Technology program. Rick is a Wisconsin native, earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in agricultural engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Rick joined the UNL faculty in 2001 and was previously an extension specialist at The Ohio State University.
